GP Referral Process

1. NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS)

Please ensure that Elixir Medics is selected as the provider for Adult ADHD Assessment on the NHS e-Referral Service.

2. Email Referral

Referrals may also be sent to our dedicated Adult ADHD referral address: rtcadhd@elixirmedics.co.uk

NHS-Commissioned Service Area

We are accredited to assess and treat adult ADHD (18+) in Mid and South Essex (MSE).

The MSE area includes:

  • Maldon
  • Thurrock
  • Castle Point
  • Rochford
  • Braintree
  • Chelmsford

Outside MSE:

We are not currently offering NHS appointments elsewhere in England but hope to expand in the near future.

Eligibility for an NHS-Funded ADHD Assessment

You must meet all of the following:

  • Be 18 or over.
  • Be registered—and remain registered—with an NHS GP in England throughout referral, assessment, and treatment.
  • Be applying specifically for an ADHD assessment/treatment.
  • Provide a working email address and/or mobile number.
  • Provide photo ID and proof of address.
  • Not be experiencing an acute medical or psychiatric illness that would affect the assessment.
  • Not be using illicit drugs (these can interfere with assessment).
  • For titration/medication, your GP must agree to provide medication under shared care once you are stabilised.
  • Not already have an ADHD diagnosis for the purpose of this assessment.

How to Book an Appointment

  1. See your NHS GP
    Discuss your symptoms. If an assessment is indicated, your GP can refer you to Elixir Medics.
    Note: You cannot self-refer for the NHS-funded route.

  2. Prepare for your GP appointment
    Complete the ASRS form and take it with you.

  3. After your GP refers you
    • We will contact you for triage within 1 week of receiving the referral.
    • If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks, check with your GP:
      • Date the referral was sent
      • Whether it was returned as incomplete or not accepted
    • If not returned, you may contact us on 01279 874 624 or email info@elixirmedics.co.uk.

Do you offer Face to Face and Online assessment?

Yes we do offer both types of assessment.

  • Face-to-Face (F2F): Rich, in-person interaction.
  • Online: Convenient and fully GDPR-compliant.
    • You’ll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access.
    • We’ll send you a secure link—just click to join.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before your appointment we’ll send forms to complete. Please bring photo ID and proof of address.
We currently have good availability. If a wait develops, we’ll inform you promptly.
It is free when referred by your NHS GP (funded by the NHS).
Prescription charges are in line with current NHS rates.
No. We see adults (18+) only.
No. The referral must come from your NHS GP.

Private, self-funded assessments outside NHS commissioning are possible.
No if you are in Mid and South Essex ICB.

We are seeking approval for other ICB areas; referrals from outside MSE cannot currently be accepted.
Our NHS contract covers adult ADHD assessment and treatment only.

Other mental health conditions can be assessed/treated privately.
The assessment is NHS-funded.

Medication is subject to normal NHS prescription charges.
We are not commissioned to provide NHS care for those already diagnosed or in treatment elsewhere.


Private treatment may be offered if appropriate.

No. Private fees cannot be retrospectively refunded.
